Facebook recently unveiled it’s new dedicated hardware; Portal. At first glance, the small tablet seems to be a nifty little gadget, capable of only a few basic functions, but impressive in its design. The Portal is a dedicated video chat device, sharply reminiscent of video communication devices many 80s movies were sure would dominate the future.

For many people, the first time they heard the phrase “fake news” was during the 2016 United States Election, or during Brexit. This was when Cambridge Analytica used information on habits and personalities, gleaned from Facebook profiles, to tailor the political content that people saw. The intention was to swing the vote, and when we found out we were appalled.
